Dalibor Bednář was born in Opava in 1960. He lives and works in Ostrava. He earns his living as a technician, whereas photography is his hobby. He took his first photograph when he was eighteen, and returned to photography after a break at the beginning of the nineties. He admires a classical approach to photography with an emphasis on black and white process. He is interested in a municipal architecture and relationships of people who live in towns and help to form them. He also devotes his attention postraits and nudes. He works with manual 35 mm SLR and medium format film cameras.
Since 2001 he has been regularly giving exhibitions individually or with friends. Since 2004 he has been publishing his own photo calendars. In 2010 he issued a monographical book called „Path of photography db“.
In 2003, with his long-time friend Frantisek Reznicek, he opened the legendary art gallery G7 on Chelcickeho street in Ostrava, later on Zamecka street No.2. Art of all genres was presented, including photography, paintings, graphic art and statues. After ten years of function, the art gallery was closed in 2013.
Dalibor Bednář was a member of photo club REFLEX in years 1978 – 1989, since 1995 he has been a member of FOTOKLUB OSTRAVA. He participates in exhibitions within the scope of collective exhibitions and projects of the photo club.
